Teaching Philosophy

I have been asked – why did I return to teaching when I loved designing control systems so much.  My answer is simple:

I love building control systems but I love building people more.

I empower students to see themselves as creators of solutions, not just finders of someone else’s solution.

I encourage students to have faith in themselves and recognize that most things are not hard – they are just new.  In time they will look back and realize how much they have learned and that what they thought was hard at first they no longer find difficult.

I use in-class exercises to engage students and create a dialogue where students can get immediate feedback.  I connect the theoretical to the practical.
